Go Chuckster

Hi, I'm Charlie. I'm a swimmer/cyclist/runner and when I'm not I work for the internets. I also do a little photography on the sly.
From yesterday’s screening at Colmubia Film School.  The film was directed by Howard Hawks (produced by rich weirdo/genius Howard Hughes) and starred Paul Muni as the loveable Anthony “Toni” Camonte (after Al Capone).
Hawks has been recongnized by film critics like Francois Truffaut and Andre Bazin as a master of genre films including Comedy, Westerns, Private Eye Melodrama, Musicals, Sci-Fi, Epics, and the Gangster film.  Genre films being one of the things Hollywood does best but rewards least.
Next week we step out of the shadows and into daylight with a look at the Western and a look at John Ford’s Stagecoach.  Also recognized by Truffaut as a master of the genre.
